Five Foods That Starve Cancer

40% of women age 40-50 have microscopic breast cancer!  50% of men, age 50-60 have microscopic prostate cancer!  By our 70s, almost 100% of us will have microscopic cancer in our thyroid glands!  We can live with harmless cancers in our bodies, but how do we get rid of both harmless and harmful cancer cells?

Starve cancer cells by eating!  According to Dr. William Lee, presented today on the Dr. Oz show, there are five superfoods that help our bodies fight off cancer.  The key is eating "anti-angiogenesis" foods.

The top five anti-angiogenesis foods are:
1.  Bok choy
2.  Cooked tomatoes (with a little olive oil on top)
(Bonus points if they are San Marzano tomatoes.)
3.  Flounder
4.  Artichoke
5.  Strawberries

Other recommended foods are soybeans (pick a fermented soy as in miso soup), chocolate (YES, LOVE THIS LIST), cinnamon, salmon, halibut, brussel sprouts, leafy greens, and green tea (dunk the teabag to release the chemicals).

Eating apples?  Pick Red Delicious and Granny Smith.  Drinking?
Pick a wine grown in cooler climates for the most efficient cancer-busting results.  For more info, see doctoroz.com.

Between the chocolate, green tea and the wine, eating one a day should be no problem!  Here's to good health for all!

Free Days at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry

The month of September offers a great value for those close to Chicago.  The Museum of Science and Industry, one of the most spectacular museums in the world and the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere, opens its doors for free!  The Free Days are September 7-10, 13-14, 20-21, and 27-28.  Special exhibit and parking charges do still apply.  While you are there, don't miss the baby chicks (sending a shout out to my friend and exhibit coordinator Tim), the world-famous coal mine, the U-505 submarine, the fairy castle, and my favorite, albeit simple, the whisper chamber.  Details and more information can be found at http://msichicago.org/.  Have fun, and we'll see you there!
